A graduate of Philosophy at Jagiellonian University in Krakow
Master` s thesis headed: “ The Concept of Man in the Works of Hildegard of Bingen”
written under the supervision of Prof. Władysław Stróżewski PhD

Runs Creative Writing poetic workshops at Jagiellonian University in Krakow

Editor of literary journals: the Krakow` s “Studium” and the Wrocław` s “Rita Baum”

In 1994 received Klemens Janicki` s Award for the Young
In 1996 received George Trakl Award for the “Hazard” book of poetry
In 1996 was nominated to the Kościelski Foundation Award
In 1998 received the Independent Culture grant in Paris
In 2000 received the grant of Minister of Culture and National Heritage
In 2004 participated in 41st International Writers Congress in Beograd
In 2006 a collection of her poems “Imperium łzy” ( The Empire of a Tear)
was published, translated into Serbian by Biserka Rajcic
2008 received the grant of Minister of Culture and National Heritage

She also published a book “ Paź królowej. Bajka dla zakochanych” (The Queen` s Page. A Fairytale for Lovers” [Kraków 2006] and “Encyklopedia Szaleńca” (A Madman` s Encyclopedia) [Wrocław 2006 in the “Rita Baum” library).

TRANSLATIONS

Her poetry was translated into: German, French, English, Swedish, Hungarian, Russian, Slovenian, Serbian, Slovak and Czech languages.

The sketch by Magdalena Rabizo – Birek „ Młodej poezji lat dziewięćdziesiątych liryki zaangażowane” [ The Engaged Lyric of Young Poetry of the Nineties”, a lecture given at the session „Polish Literature of the Last Decade ( 1990-2000)” held between 13th and 16th March at the Łódź University.

Since mid-nineties there have appeared in the Polish press many reviews of her books and other articles devoted to her works. The reviews of her books of poetry were printed in “Gazeta Wyborcza” daily, “Nowe Książki”, “Studium”, “Rita Baum”, “Opcje”, “Kwartalnik Artystyczny”, “Odra”, “Topos”, “Pogranicza”, “Czas Kultury”, “Zeszyty Literackie”.

Writing abort her works were, among others, Jacek Łukasiewicz, Leszek Szaruga, Karol Maliszewski, Maciej Cisło, Jakub Winiarski, Jarosław Klejnocki, Igor Stokfiszewski, Janusz Styczeń, Marianna Bocian, Marta Mizuro, Wojciech Browarny, Magdalena Rabizo – Birek.
